In 1966 model Donyale Luna was the first Black woman or any woman of color for that manner to pose on the cover of Vogue magazine. A model who was known for creating elaborate stories about her ethnicity to appear exotic rather than plain ole black.

Do you notice how her hands coyly cover her features? The purpose was as not to offend white readers. Now fast forward 42 years into the present. Has our society changed that much in four decades? Or are we still stuck in the 60’s.
