Spotted in NY: Kevin Garnett

Kevin Garnett was spotted clowning in the streets of New York last night. He has reason to smile. As everyone and there Mama knows the Boston Celtics won the NBA Championship on June 17th! KG had 26 points and 14 rebounds. We’ve loved KG ever since he donated $1.2 million to Oprah’s Angel Network so when he won we were extra hyped! Congrats!

Wiggin’ Out!

Janet sported a heavy wig at the Cartier Love Charity Bracelet Launch in L.A. We hear she had trouble getting in. Security thought she was a Donna Summer impersonator.

Janet recently stated that her European leg of her anticipated Rock Witchu Tourhas been cancelled. She cites her label, Island Def Jam as the culprit. Blaming them for lack of promotion of her project. When asked what her next single will be Janet responded:

That’s pretty difficult to say, only because of the record label at this point. We started off with Feedback, so they basically stopped all promotion. I’m trying to figure out a way to say this, but just to say it and to be quite honest, they just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album so I don’t think you’re going to hear another single off this album

Shame on you Def Jam! We hate to bring up the past but things haven’t been exactly right for Ms. Jackson since that entire Super Bowl incident. She is not getting the respect she deserves from the media or the industry in general.

What she really should do is retire from music and solely concentrate on her acting craft. But being a Jackson music is in her bones and blood so Janet may never give it up…

Inappropriate!

Will Smith must have not seen what we said on GIN yesterday! Necking on the red carpet with a married co-star is highly unethical Charlize, even in Hollywood.

Well this is Black Hollywood, and like we said before Ms. Smith don’t play that! This girl is begging for a beat down! In Will’s movie Hancock he falls for a married woman (Charlize Theron). Maybe they are tying that theme in somehow….

Hill Harper Book Signing

Hill Harper signs copies of Letters to a Young Sister. A follow-up to his 2006 motivational book Letter to a Young Brother.

We here at Glad It’s Night haven’t read his second book yet but if it’s anything like the first book then readers will not be disappointed. His good friend Gabrielle Union wrote the forward to the book. Below book columnist Karla Mass chatted with Hill about the book. Here’s what he had to say:

How does “Letters to a Young Sister: DeFINE Your Destiny” compare to your last book, “Letters to a Young Brother: MANifest Your Destiny?
Obviously it’s similar because they’re both written for young people. But young women are different from young men. Women are more complex. With young women, we find that some are doing very well in school, but have self-esteem issues. This book is longer and it goes into more issues than “Letters to a Young Brother: MANifest Your Destiny.” I’m proud of my newest book. It’s quite different. Self-esteem is not gender or age specific.

Has your acting career prepared you, in any way, for a career in writing?
Absolutely. Everything relates. Attending Harvard Law School and becoming a better critical thinker has made me a better actor. I’ve definitely used what I’ve learned in my writing. You’ve got to entertain and make it an enjoyable read, whether it’s drama or comedy. It all starts on the page. If the script is horrible, it’s not going to be good. With a book, it’s all about the page. I’m glad people are entertained and inspired by the book. I’m proud of the response.

Are You Feeling the New Cut?

Rihanna sports a not so edgy new hair cut at MTV’s TRL in New York. It has that whole 80’s mushroomish feel to it. Are feeling the new color?

Too Close for Comfort

Will Smith & co- star Charlize Theron hit up the Paris premiere of Hancock. Charlize better watch her back getting all up in Will’s face. Jada don’t play that! The flick hits theaters July 2nd. It is expected to be a huge blockbuster.

We must ask… Is it worth seeing?
